Tuesday, 2/3
Went to the centro to get pesos and shop for some groceries. I walked along the beach. The fishermen were returning and there were many fish on there way to market somewhere. I saw one beautiful dolphin (Mahi).
It took about 45 minutes.I went to the big department grocery store "Super Che" hoping to find an ATM there. No luck
I then began today's exercise in Espanol, "Can you tell me where Banco Santander ATM is" (Banco Santander is important because they are allied with Bank Of America and charge no fees.)
First, lets hit the upside. They understand my question. With a correction on pronunciation "San tan DER".
But secondly, they reply with too much answer. I don't understand.
I try asking how many blocks, etc but am left with only a general idea of direction.
So, I walk in that direction for a while and ask again. I still have no idea of the instructions beyond direction.
Each inquiry does tell me I am on the right track. The third or fourth time I ask a group outside a motorcycle repair shop (In the Mexican style, the store room is inside and the repair is under a portable cabana on the sidewalk.) I'm not totally clear on their reply, but, it is on THIS road and on the right side.
Onward.
A while further, I see a sign for the highway to Oaxaca City. I know I'm too far. I see an employee outside a government office of some kind and ask her. She speaks some english "You te amo!!" I tell her.
Turns out, I had walked right by it, (probably while the voices in my head were berating me for being such a poor estudante de espanol) Needed help with the machine. It was bilingual too, but the sunlight on the screen made it unreadable. I got too much money, because the next choice was too little. Walked back to Super Che and shopped. I caught the colectivo and rode home.
These taxis run every few minutes all day and cost 7 pesos. I missed my stop and had to ride to the end and back. The driver spoke good English and had worked in the USA for 5 years. two of his children were born there.

A siesta and a swim ended the day. I had dinner at a hamburger shop. Andrew had told me the Burritos were good and He was sooo right. Roast pork, guacamole and veggies. the corn tortilla was wonderful.
tuesday Downloaded an episode of "Elementary" to watch, but it turned out I had already seen it.
Slept great. The mattress here is top notch firm.
Hasta manana
